After training for a number of years in boxing and an "on again, off again" affair with Judo, Shihan Glen Gibbons began training in Kyokushin Karate in 1986 at the Griffith (NSW) Dojo. It was an instant fit.

He has been fortunate enough to train under some of the best instructors in Australia (alphabetically): Sempai Sebastian Arciadarcono, Shihan Eddie Emin, Sempai Wally Grey, Hanshi John Taylor and Sensei Barry West.

Shihan Gibbons founded the Independent Kyokushin Alliance in 2012. Beginning with just 2 Dojo locations the IKA now has locations in the ACT, NSW, SA and VIC as well as branches in the USA and Pakistan. Shihan Gibbons is looking forward to growing the IKA both nationally and internationally.
